Light Crafts creates powerful digital photo editing software for photographers of all abilities. Intuitive and easy to learn, their unique editing tools simply “make photos better.” So when tasked with the redesign and complete re-organization of lightcrafts.com, I made sure to mirror that same simplicity and ease of use.

The client needed a new look and feel to their site but also an update to their stale logotype. This needed a fresh new feel that suited the branding of the products they offered, as well as something that worked with their soon-to-be new site design.

To immediately showcase the power of Light Crafts technology to website visitors I designed a custom flash feature directly on the new website’s homepage. By simply dragging their cursor from right to left, the viewer could immediately experience the illuminating effects Light Crafts had on photos. The resulting consensus was that the client immediately fell in love with this feature as it directly solved concerns placed in the project brief. Their users could easily see how effective their product was to use on their photos.

Inspired by the way Light Crafts makes it easy for even the most bush league shutterbug to create stunning final images, their new website also had to be exceptionally easy to update internally. So in addition to programming the site using Wordpress for easy updates and utilizing a Flickr feed to keep the Community page dynamic, the company’s Twitter page was linked directly to the homepage to showcase what their product can do and to keep content fresh without fuss.

Results: Light Crafts was excited about their new look and have become more active in the social media communities as a result of their newfound abilities.
